I should be working

Here I sit, wasting time when I should be working. Seems like I do that a lot. I should be working on the last page of my portfolio that is due tomorrow. Yeah, not much more left of summer classes, which also means not much left of summer in general. ARGH!

I was talking to a friend today who was telling me how he's just got a few hours left to take. I started trying to calculate how many more I need. I figured out that after this summer I'll only need 17. Seven-freakin-teen. That's ridiculous. I mean, didn't I just get here? Of course I'll still be taking the minimum 12 both of my remaining semesters, but just seeing that number that I have until I reach that magic number 120 kind of puts it in perspective.

So I'm sure by now everybody that cares has seen the new Batman. I went to see it opening night. I was amazed by the amount of people that went. Before they opened the theaters to us, everyone was just waiting in the lobby and after about 30 minutes it got really crammed and really hot. I had never been to a movie with that many people at the same time. And there was like 8 theaters showing it that night so I figured there must have been at least 1,000 people there just to see Batman.

I really enjoyed the movie too. I mean, I've loved Batman ever since I was a kid, as I'm sure most other kids have as well. What I thought was funny was a commercial I saw for a kids Batman costume. I remember I was Batman for Halloween once. I think I was like 3 at the time and the 89 Batman had just come out. I don't remember the costume in that much detail, but just from seeing pictures I know that it was so primitive compared to the new one. It's insane. The costume has some kind of retractable wings, which I guess Batman has in Begins and Dark Knight, so it's legit and all, but still I thought it was ridiculous how technology has changed even just since I was young and had a Batman costume.

Of course the costume I had was appropriate for the '89 movie. It came on television Sunday night and after watching the new one so recently, I realized how outdated and sub par that movie is. I mean, it's still a great Batman movie, but I used to think it was the best. Batman's costume just looks really...well I guess "fake" would be the best word to describe it, compared to The Dark Knight costume. Anyway, enough about that. I need to see The Dark Knight again to really get it all in. It's just too much to take in with only one viewing. But in the case of this particular movie it is a good thing.

wreakord high

You know what is getting on my nerves -- gas prices. And it's not what you might think. The thing that is really getting on my nerves is how the people on the news keep mentioning how, "today was a record high for gas prices!"

Well, yeah, you idiot. Once the price of gas reaches a certain point (which is way long past by now) it comes to the point of being a "record." Then if it ever surpasses that number, then the new price will be the new record. So why do they keep saying it every day!!! It's not even newsworthy. I can look up at the sign and see its higher than it was yesterday and use my own brain to deduce that a record has been made from the previous day, week, month, what have you. Anyway, all I know is, thank God I can take the transit, bike or walk most places.

Speaking of gas, this past weekend I went home. There's 40 bucks gone right there. Poof. But it was a good 4th of July vacation and all that. Glad to be back though. That'll probably be my last trip home till the end of the summer. I'm planning on doing another hiking trip before the fall semester starts. I don't know how I'm going to do this one because if I do it alone I'd have to have someone take me. But if I can find someone to hike with me, we could take two cars and transport each other. I don't know how realist that would be considering not many people would like to do such a thing. But I may have found one friend who is interested. More on that, I guess, later.
