Paranoid

You know whats annoying me as of late? Auburn emailing me. Usually it would only be about important stuff, but recently it's been like they are spamming us with info, some of it I suppose is useful to some, but not me so much. So there was someone murdered in Auburn and I guess everyone is paranoid now or something. It didn't really effect me that way because I realize that it was an isolated incident. I also realize that there is evil everywhere in the world and no place is immune from that, yes, not even Auburn. So you have to watch your back no matter where you are. And sometimes, that's not even enough. Sometimes you just get dealt a bad hand. But because all that happened I'm not going to be suspicious of every black person I see or every unidentified object lying in the road. Which brings me back to Auburn emailing me. On top of the 10 or so emails I got over the course of a couple days regarding the student death, I get one a couple days ago that is titled "Object found on campus proves no danger". I didn't even know of any object. So I open the email. Apparently there was a piece of PVC pipe on the side of the road and somebody thought it was a bomb. Seriously? Are we that paranoid that random litter that probably fell out of a passing car scares people. It was just a piece of pipe!

Then again, I guess with all the violence in colleges recently, some may think that Auburn is next. I hope that's not true. And also, I guess these people are just being careful. But I don't believe in the statement, "you can never be too careful". I think you can. Like when you think a PVC pipe is a bomb.

And another thing that grinded my gears. I kind of understand the lengths Auburn went to with dealing with this murder and everything. But I don't think the media should have gotten involved. How was this a newsworthy story? Maybe locally, but I turned on Headline News one day and there they are talking about Auburn. What about Birmingham, people are murdered there all the time. In Huffman people are robbing stores with automatic weapons. It may be a local issue, but what does the rest of the world care? It was so dumb. I was watching people call in, and since they know nothing of Auburn, they were asking uninformed questions like, "is there gang activity in Auburn?" Of course not! Why do you even care that someone was murdered in Auburn, Kelly from Sacramento? How does it concern you? Whatever.

In other news, Spring break is coming up. I need a week off from studio. It's not going well. Mainly because the problem we are trying to solve is huge and not easy. It's been a frustrating couple of weeks, to say the least. See you in a week.
